Draft Strategy Guide
We are less than a week away from the Draft so we thought it would be helpful to share some resources on draft strategy for those that may be more fantasy football-challenged. We’ve also included some articles specific to the 2026 season as every NFL season varies with player status’, offensive schemes (how players are utilized on each team), as well as the overall pool of players in each position. For example: Typical draft strategy 101 would have you thinking that drafting two RBs in the first few rounds is the way to go, but trends may point to the WR pool being more vast than RBs for this season. That fact can completely change how you want to go about drafting players, especially depending on where you’re at in the draft order. There are a lot of factors to think about, but don’t forget that it’s also totally fine to just draft someone based on ~vibes~ alone.
We also wanted to give a friendly reminder that you can do mock drafts through the sleeper app to practice different scenarios. Once you have an idea of your strategy and knowledge of available players, it’s a great idea to test it out via a mock draft. This can help you more easily pivot on draft day if a player you want goes before you have a chance to snag him. Here are a few things to keep in mind when putting together your strategy: be mindful of when bye weeks are (no one wants to open the app to see half their team on a bye that week); it’s a snake draft which means your fist pick and your next pick can be far apart, close together or spaced out depending on where you sit in the draft order; players OUT or on IR can still be picked up during the draft but you may want to do some research on their history and when they are expected to get playing time.
